She heard a soft yet commanding voice in her head, say, “Take off the silver bracelet you have on your left arm and you will find it.” Thinking this odd she nevertheless immediately took off the silver bracelet and went deep into her Mother’s closet to put it in the safe. There on a pile of old clothes was the heirloom bracelet. Her Mother had picked it up and forgotten where she placed it.

When the writer Allan Gurganus was asked for a story to inspire a piece of music, he remembered a surreal dream in which a white “something” plummeted into his backyard.
